A memorial service for Mr. A. B. Hawkins, age 80, of Fayetteville will be conducted Saturday morning at 11 A.M. at Higgins Funeral Home with Dr. Calvin Todd officiating.

A native of Shelby County, he was the son of the late James Robert and Floy May Boswell Hawkins and the husband of the late “Pat” Cox Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a cryptographer in the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict, an accountant with Singer, a systems analyst with General Electric, and a beloved teacher at Boonshill School. He was a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by daughters: Camille Hester and husband, Will and Abby Underwood and husband Greg both of Fayetteville and Patti Abernathy of Shannon, MS, a son: Jay Hawkins and wife Carla of Fayetteville, sisters: Monnie Hawkins and Mary Allen of Germantown, TN, 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The Hawkins family will receive friends at Higgins Funeral Home, Friday evening from 5 until 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church or the Beech Grove Methodist Church.
