Mr. Dan McGee epitomized the men of his era. Mr. Dan was strong willed, tough minded, hard working, disciplined, and fiercely protective of what he loved. He was larger than life as so men of that era were. A great and influential man has passed but his legacy lives on in his loved ones that have given honor to him in following his lead and his example in life. I know that he was always immensely proud of his family and he is looking down with adoration at you all. He will be missed but he will be well remembered.

Condolences to all of the family from David Scott, Selwyn and Martha Hemphill, my family, and myself. You are in our prayers.

Once, when I was about 16, Mr. Dan loaned me some money, and when I thanked him, he told me something I never forgot, “When a man ain’t got any friends, he ain’t got nothing.” He was always the kindest man and showed me a real example of a life well-lived. Not many like like him were made, unfortunately.

Mark and Mary Jane and families, My deepest sympathy goes out to you at this sad time for all of you.. I did not personally know Mr. Dan but from all I ever heard he was a giant of a man in every way.You were blessed to have him all these years but I know that amid the sadness you also rejoice that he is no longer captive to the things that took away his quality of life over the last few years. Praying for God’s sweet comfort to be yours.
