Jesse Knox McAlister

June 8, 1921 - January 18, 2012

Funeral services for Jesse Knox McAlister, age 90 of Taft, will be conducted Sunday at 3 PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Wayne Harvell officiating. Burial will follow in Blanche Cemetery beside his wife Inez McAlister who passed away in 2005. Mr. McAlister passed away Wednesday in Huntsville Hospital.

He was a native of Lincoln County and the son of the late John William and Agnes Moore McAlister. Mr. McAlister was a farmer and a member of the Unity Church of Christ.

Survivors include his daughter: Patsy Rogers and husband Jackson of Taft, grandson Mac Rogers and wife Jana of Taft, granddaughter Cathy Lowe and husband Duane of Lebanon, great-grandchildren: Bailey Lowe, Gabrielle Lowe, Knox Rogers, Jack Lowe and Elijah Rogers, sisters: Anna Marshall and husband Gordon of Fayetteville and Gracie Drennon of Fayetteville and special friend and caregiver Janice Smith.

Mr. McAlister was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Carl McAlister, Herman McAlister, Rachel Smith, Alberta Smith, Inez Hopkins, Nettie Moffett, Bertha Hopkins, and Juell Young.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday evening 5-8 PM at Higgins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Unity Church of Christ Building Fund or Lincoln County FFA Scholarship Fund.

Dear Patsy and to all of the family members of Knox McAlister;

There needs to be comfort in the fact that all who knew Mr. Knox had a friend with a ready smile and warm greeting. All who had business dealings were treated honestly and he gave his best to his family, always. All my memories are good and I remember the wonderful times in the kirkland community with the rook and ice cream parties knox and Inez hosted at their cabin. Such fun.

Our parting is such sweet sorrow, missing our loved one and at the same time knowing there is no more suffering and that they are going to a better place to be with friends and family who have gone on before and to be in the presence of God. The grace, peace and love of God is what gives us strength and comfort to continue until our time comes to join those gone before us. That should be the desire of everyone.
