It is with regret we announce the death of Mrs. Jessie Taylor Messick Buckbee Dixon, age 96 of Huntsville, AL. Mrs. Dixon passed away Thursday morning in Donalson Care Center in Fayetteville, TN. She was a native of Springfield, WV and spend most of her adult life in Romney. WV. Mrs. Dixon was the daughter of the late Carrie Taylor and Garrett Messick. During her life time Jessie was a homemaker, antique collector, manager and operator of a service station and during World War II drove a school bus. She was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed horseback riding.
Surviving family include two sons from her first marriage, Edward O. (Gayle) Buckbee of Huntsville, AL and Robert D. (Annette) Buckbee of Fairfax Station, VA. Jessie had three granddaughters Jana(Pat) Harris of Huntsville, AL, Jill Wilson also of Huntsville, and Jackie (John) Witherspoon of Brevard, NC; six great-grandchildren Zachary and Matthew Wilson, Lane and Patrick Harris and Eliza and Knox Witherspoon, Brevard, NC and two sisters Phyllis Messick and Marguerite Henderson both of Romney, WV and two sisters-in-law, Helen Messick, Ft. Ashby, WV and Betty Messick of Springfield, WV. She was preceded in death by husbands Noah O’Dell (Ed) Buckbee and Bernard Dixon. Jessie will be interred along side Bernard in Ebenezer Church Cemetery, Romney, WV.
