Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Joan D. Maddox, age 84, of Bordentown, NJ, will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Black officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Maddox passed away Sunday at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis Medical Center New Jersey.
She was a native of Fayetteville, the daughter of the late Albert C. and Mary Elizabeth (Kate) Locker Dunn. She moved to Bordentown, NJ in 2000. A woman of great faith, she was a member of Washington Street Church of Christ. Many will miss her sweet, loving nature and smile.
Survivors include her daughter Emily Sue Harris of Bordentown, NJ, son Sherman A. (Janice K.) Maddox, Jr., grandchildren Chad A. Maddox and Hayley B. Maddox all of Lewisburg, TN and many other relatives and friends. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sherman A. Maddox, Sr., son-in-law Richard S. Harris, aunt and uncle Harvey A. and Emma Lackey.
Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 10 until 11 a.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.

    My friendship with Joan goes back to my childhood when I lived across the street from Lackey’s store. She was five years older than I but I remember her well.
    I am sorry you had to give her up, but age is working on all of us. She was a nice lady.
