Odell W. Posey
July 28, 1921 - January 8, 2012
Funeral services for Mrs. Odell W. Posey, age 90 of Fayetteville, will be conducted Thursday at 2 PM at the Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Rev. Van Johnson officiating. Mrs. Posey passed away Sunday in Lincoln Medical Center.
She was a native of Lincoln County and the daughter of the late Knox and Davis Harbin Walker. Mrs. Posey was retired Chancery Court Clerk and a member of the Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son Anthony Posey and wife Joan of Robertsdale, AL, sister Ruth Wright of Chattanooga and granddaughter Lissa Posey Cooke of Bowling Green, KY, step-grandson David Heltsley of Springfield, TN and special cousin Martha Frances (Broadway) Ramsey of Nashville, TN.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 10 am – 2 PM at Fayetteville First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Fund.

We had talked at length several times in the past 3 years via telephone. While we weren’t the closest in the later years, I do have fond memories of the visits to the house and to the “country” in general. Mother, Irene Sherwood Holder, and Odell kept in touch through Christmas cards as far back as I can remember until Mother herself took sick. I loved them both and always looked forward to seeing them and getting one of those big bear hugs from Mr. Ted. I thank God for the example that they set not only for me, but for so many young people throughout the years. |
