Obituary

Funeral services for Raymond Buford Stevenson, Jr., age 87, of Frankewing will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Brown and Stan Stevenson officiating.  Burial will follow in Wright’s Cemetery beside his wife Sarah Frances Stevenson who passed away in 2007.  Mr. Stevenson passed away Thursday at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

A native of Giles County, he was the son of the late Buford Stevenson, Sr., and Myrtle McCown Stevenson.  Mr. Stevenson was a farmer, carpenter/woodworker and a member of the McBurg Methodist Church.  He was very active with the McBurg Community Center and was a volunteer at Wright’s Cemetery.

Survivors include his daughter Betty Cochrane and husband Jerry of Hermitage, son Terry Stevenson and wife Joy of Frankewing,  grandchildren Terry Lynn Stevenson of Columbus, GA. and Kimberly Cochrane of Cresent Springs, KY., a sister Ester Thornton of Savannah, GA. and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by eleven siblings.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Bee Springs Cemetery Fund.
