Funeral services for Mrs. Sovola Rebecca Whisenant Hayes, age 87 of Chattanooga, formerly of Arab, AL. will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2PM at Higgins Funeral Home with Brother Gary Wright officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial  Gardens beside her husband James C. Hayes. Mrs. Hayes died Monday evening following an extended illness.

A native of Marshall County, Alabama, she was the daughter of Gordon and Mittie Lou Dunn Whisenant, was a former employee of Jonathan Logan, a former waitress, caregiver and a member of the Church  of Christ.

Mrs. Hayes is survived by her daughter: Laura Ann Hayes Posey and husband Wilson Roger Posey of Chattanooga, son: Roger Glyn Hayes and wife Amanda Hayes of Arab, Ala. granddaughters: June Posey Howard, Penny Posey Wood, Jennifer Hayes Jones, Shelby Rebecca Hayes and step-granddaughter: Kendra Metcalf and step-grandson: Kenny Metcalf and six great grandchildren, three sisters Vonola Osborne, Nelladean Hambrick and Truvella Tarpley.

Visitation with the Hayes family will be Wednesday evening from 5 until 8 P.M. at Higgins Funeral Home, 213 East Market Street, Fayetteville, TN.
